Forbes magazine partnered with market research firm Statista to identify the companies that female workers like best, examining numerous dimensions. In the areas of atmosphere and development, image, working conditions, workplace, diversity, probability of recommendation, family support, flexibility, representation and career and pay equity, tampa General scored well over 80th percentile.

In 2021, the Hospital Team Member Engagement Survey and a 2022 Achievement Survey (where team members self-identified their gender) showed that the three most important qualities of women were most valued within the hospital tampa General were flexibility, opportunities for growth and development, as well as health, wellness and performance programs.

- Flexibility: tampa General offers a competitive time off policy, as well as remote work options and flexibility for part-time positions. In the past two years, hospital staff have increasingly expressed a desire for part-time employment and have complied with this whenever possible.
- Opportunities for growth and development: In addition to competitive tuition reimbursement and clinical and non-clinical leaders who support skill enhancement, the hospital also offers scholarships. For example more than $100,000 grants were awarded in nursing tampa General team members in 2022. Clinical and non-clinical leaders are structured systems to drive career development while the team member remains in a current position.
- Health, Wellness and Benefits: In addition to competitive medical services, the hospital also offers team members access to wellness activities and tracking via a free app, an on-site gym, and online classes through the TGH Fitness Center. Additionally, tampa General offers support in a variety of ways, including lactation rooms, team member lounges, as well as a lavish area to assist team members with decompression, including massage chairs and behavioral health support, both live and virtual.
- Family support: The Academic Medical Center offers a team member emergency fund to support team members in times of crisis. In 2020 and 2021, a $600 Grant per eligible team member for back-to-school supplies has helped parents buy essentials like clothes, backpacks, tablets and laptops. An on-site daycare provides families with an educational and developmental curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
tampa General also focuses on education and professional development with programs unique to the academic medical center – the People Development Institute (PDI) offers courses through a partnership with the University of South Florida (USF) Muma College of Business free. Thanks a tampa General foundation grant, all tampa General team members can access courses on topics such as technical, emotional, financial, and leadership skills. Designed for tampa General team members who are early in their careers or want more training, the free LEAD (Leadership Enrichment and Development) TGH program is spread over 12 months and creates career paths and identifies future leaders. A Modern Advances in Leadership series facilitated by the University of Tampa Sykes College of Business is designed to provide transformative and interactive learning experiences to enhance the skills of current and future leaders. Several programs in the categories are supported by the tampa General Foundation.
Kivett added that part tampa General’s philosophy is to continually develop and expand programs that support the needs of team members. “Part of our ability to do this is recognizing the unique needs of our diverse population and supporting them in ways that make sense to them at work, at home and at school. We strive to create a world-class environment for our patients and our team members,” she said.
The list was compiled by interviewing 50,000 Americans, including 30,000 women, who work for companies with at least 1,000 employees in their US operations. The evaluation was based on four criteria:
- Direct Recommendations — General Working Topics: Employees were asked to give their opinion on a series of statements related to their own employer, relating to the likelihood of recommendation, atmosphere and development, image, working conditions, salary and salary, workplace and diversity.
- Direct Recommendations — Issues relevant to women: Women were asked to rate their own employers on maternity leave, family support, flexibility, discrimination, representation, and career and pay equity.
- Indirect recommendations: Participants had the opportunity to rate other employers in their respective industries that stand out positively or negatively in terms of diversity. Only recommendations from women were considered.
- Diversity among top executives/board of directors: Based on extensive research, an index was created based on the proportion of women in executive or board positions. at tampa Generally, women make up 50% of the Corporate Suite executives and 70% of our senior vice president team.
