Focus on our activities in Syria

Our mission in Yemen has existed since 2007. PUI develops its integrated approach with Health, Nutrition, Food Security and WaSH. In addition, PUI works to address malnutrition, support primary health services and reproductive health services, maintain and rehabilitate health centers, and train medical workers. Today the Mission is running 4 projects.

What about the head of mission?

As Head of Mission, you are responsible for the smooth functioning and further development of the mission.

To this end, you are responsible for:

  • Security: You are responsible for the security of the mission.
  • Programs: They coordinate the teams and ensure that the programs implemented on the mission are carried out properly. They also monitor needs and suggest new operations and development paths for the mission.
  • human resources: You ensure the staffing of the mission and supervise the teams (definition of goals, follow-up).
  • Logistic, administrative and financial supervision: They ensure that the logistical and administrative procedures in place respect PUI procedures and formats and comply with donor rules and regulations.
  • Medical and technical surveillance: They ensure that medical and technical practices respect PUI’s procedures and formats and comply with PUI’s operational framework and policies.
  • Depiction: They represent the association to partners, donors, the media and various authorities.
  • Headquarters Relations: They ensure that information is properly shared between headquarters and the field and ensure that due dates are met.

The challenges that await you:

  1. Achieving more balanced funding (over-reliance on UN agencies): increasing the proportion of non-UN donors, targeting “long-term” donors (financial axis).
  2. Define sectoral strategies (education, protection, FSL) and develop related monitoring tools (strategy/program axis).
  3. Be active in humanitarian coordination and advocacy (representative axis).
  4. Team management and capacity building (HR axis).

What you need to be successful

  • education : You have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Humanitarian Action: Project Management, a technical background related to one of our areas of activity, in Human Resource Management, Financial Management…
  • experience : Strengthened by at least 3 years of experience in the field with international NGOs in project coordination, you master international team management, the project cycle and security management. Previous experience as Head of Mission or equivalent position would be desirable. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? It would be a definite enrichment!
  • capabilities : You have mastered humanitarian project management and team management, you know exactly what donors need. You also have excellent writing skills.
  • qualities : You are a good communicator, both in writing and orally. You convince with team spirit, leadership and decision-making skills, trust and responsibility, organizational talent, responsiveness, thoroughness and adaptability. You have a strong resistance to stress and especially in unstable situations.
  • Languages : English has no secrets for you! All the better that it is mandatory for this position. If you speak Arabic and/or French this would be an advantage.

PUI will offer you

  • Condition: Fixed-term contract squad
  • Monthly gross income: 3 330.00 – 3 930.00 EUR depending on your experience in International Solidarity + €50 per year of service at PUI
  • insurance including medical care and complementary health care, 24/24 assistance and repatriation
  • Housing in shared accommodation
  • Daily living expenses (“Per day”)
  • Pause Policy: 5 working days every 2 months + break allowance
  • Paid Leave Policy: 5 weeks paid vacation per year + return trip every 6 months
