The DUP has backed a campaign to give the late Queen the name Elizabeth The Faithful.

Queen Elizabeth has reportedly been referred to as Elizabeth the Great since her death, but after Secretary of State for Security Tom Tugendhat named her Elizabeth The Faithful, a campaign has grown to support this becoming her official, posthumous title.

DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said: “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was faithful unto death.

“She was faithful to her God. She was loyal to her people. And she was loyal to her family. This loyalty should be immortalized in their name.

“There has never been a monarch so loved by her people or so devoted to her people. The UK will be poorer without their guidance, wisdom and prayers. We would fully support Her late Majesty’s being known as Elizabeth The Faithful from now on.”
